Drs. Savin and Tamagno participated in three scientific events in Argentina and Uruguay in October 2026, including two workshops held within the FONTAGRO project and the National Wheat Congress (Congreso Nacional de Trigo).

The two FONTAGRO workshops took place on 20 October at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the National University of Rosario (FCA-UNR), Argentina, and on 27 October at INIA La Estanzuela, Uruguay. During these workshops, Dr. Santiago Tamagno presented the project framework, while Dr. Roxana Savin discussed wheat responses to heat waves under field conditions and controlled heat treatments. During the visit to Uruguay, Dr. Roxana Savin was also interviewed by INIA about the impact of increasingly frequent and intense heat waves on wheat production (read the full interview here).

At the National Wheat Congress, held in Rosario from 21 to 23 October, Dr. Savin delivered a keynote presentation entitled “Fisiología del rendimiento del trigo frente a los desafíos ambientales”. Dr. Tamagno also presented a poster on the effects of heat waves before and after anthesis in wheat.
